Solar: the effects pad
Play 28 effects like a Kaoss pad — filter, stutter, tape stop, grain freeze, shimmer — with up to three fingers at once. Hold them, record your moves as gestures, then write them down as automation with one tap.
Right at your fingertips, optimized for any device. Solar Eclipse has it all: loops, beats, a three-finger effects pad, a notes pad that never plays a wrong note, five synths, a mixer, a tuner and a vocoder. No VST to buy, no subscription maze. Making music was never that easy. No AI, just you being creative.

Every sound in these sketches comes from the app's own synths (Impulse, Resonator, Maya, Fractal, Elixir, Alabaster, Swarm), recorded with its audio export. No samples, no plugins, no mastering.
Everything runs natively in the app, on your phone, tablet or computer. Open it, tap a pad, and you're making music.
Play 28 effects like a Kaoss pad — filter, stutter, tape stop, grain freeze, shimmer — with up to three fingers at once. Hold them, record your moves as gestures, then write them down as automation with one tap.
Slide across the pad and play melodies in your song's key — no wrong notes, ever. Three fingers play three voices, or one plays notes while another bends the filter. Arpeggiator, chords, strum, harmonizer.
A wavetable synth, an analog synth with arpeggiator, a percussion synth with a rhythm engine and more. Drag any modulation source onto any knob, like the big desktop synths.
EQ with spectrum, compressor with sidechain, multiband, limiter, saturation, reverb, delay, return tracks, loudness metering and reference matching. Freeze heavy tracks to save power.
Record straight into a track, tune it live, turn it into MIDI, or shape a synth with it in the vocoder. Beatbox a groove and it becomes drums.
Patterns, scenes, a song arranger with automation, sampler and slicer, MIDI out to other gear. Export WAV or MP3, and your songs sync between your devices.
28 effects in the spirit of a Kaoss pad: filter, delay, stutter, tape stop, grain freeze, shimmer, dub delay and more. Every finger plays its own effect, or one finger plays all three, each following your movement as strongly as you like. Hold them, tilt the phone, record your moves as a gesture and write it down as automation with one tap.

Slide across the pad and play in your song's key. Three fingers play three voices, or one plays notes while another bends the filter. Grids for chords, strums, arpeggios and drums, a harmonizer, voice leading and call & response.

Tracks with their own sounds, an arranger with song mode and automation, and a mixer with real effects — the same on a computer screen and on your phone.
On a computer each synth shows everything at once, like the big desktop synths; on a phone it folds into pages. Drag an LFO onto a knob, set where it moves from and to, and watch the ring move while you play.
WavetablesWarpDrawable LFOs10 effects
Two wavetable oscillators with 20 tables of our own and 32 frames each, eleven warp modes, unison up to 16 voices, sub and noise, a filter with eleven types, four envelopes, four LFOs you can draw, and a rack of ten effects. Drag any source onto any knob.
UnisonLadder / formant / combMacros
Three oscillators with up to eight unison voices and morphing wavetables, sub and noise, two filters including ladder, formant and comb, macros, and a modulation matrix with Min and Max for every connection. Basses, leads, pads and plucks that sit in a mix.
FM · ring · syncSupersawArp with 16 steps
Four oscillators with FM, ring and sync, a supersaw, two filters in series, parallel or split, analog drift, and an arpeggiator with a 16-step pattern you tap and drag.
18 drum models25 groovesPattern designer
Eight pads with 18 drum models from conga, tabla and djembe to taiko, udu and bells, and a rhythm engine with 25 groove families. Pick a rhythm in the pattern designer, let it evolve, play it on any key, or write it into a pattern.
On a computer the tools sit side by side and you drag them where you want; on a phone each one has its own tab.
Live tune your voice to the key while you sing, or edit the pitch of a recording note by note: drag, snap to the key, straighten, split.

A rhythm generator that spreads hits evenly — for drums, slices or melodies in the song's key — and writes them into the pattern.

An arpeggiator for any track: hold a chord and it plays patterns, octaves and rhythms in time.

A beat manipulator: draw stutters, tape stops, reverse and crush hits across your tracks, one row per track.

Your voice shapes a synth: robot choirs, talk boxes and pads, with a drone to try it while you talk.

Sing, hum or beatbox and get notes or drum hits on a track.

Solar Eclipse: the DAW Artiphon refused to make. It started as an app for the Orba, and it shows: its pads, tilt and gestures play and record your tracks, over USB or Bluetooth. Every track can have its own sound, and the Orba becomes the controller of a full studio.

Your mouth is the instrument. Solar Eclipse records it, loops it and puts the effects under your fingers, like a loop station and a Kaoss pad in your pocket.

"No AI. Just you being creative."
Solar Eclipse doesn't write songs for you. It gives you instruments that answer every touch, so the ideas stay yours — and so does the music.
Missing a feature or a synth? Ask. Requests go straight to the developer, and wished-for features and instruments get built into the app.
Big controls, pads and keys that slide up from below, three-finger play. On a computer you get two columns and the keyboard.
MIDI keyboards, controllers, your phone as a remote for the computer, MIDI out to hardware and DAWs.
Most projects fall apart when they travel: a missing plugin, a different version, a sound that is not installed over there. Solar Eclipse has no plugins to match. Every instrument, drum kit and effect is part of the app, so a friend who opens your song hears what you hear, on a phone, a tablet or a computer.
Solar Eclipse borrows the best ideas of the big studios and puts them under your fingers, in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer.
One payment, no subscription, no plugins to buy on top.
Own an Orba 2? Save another 10 %. Connect it in the app and Solar Eclipse costs you €53.10 during the trial, €89.10 afterwards.
Buying needs a free account: sign in, then you go straight to the checkout. Your Orba discount is applied automatically.

Yes. Solar Eclipse is built for the phone first: big touch targets, pads and keys that slide up from below, effects you play with three fingers. It also runs on tablets and computers, in the browser, and can be installed like an app.
No. Solar Eclipse brings its own instruments and effects: five synthesizers (including a wavetable synth, an analog synth with arpeggiator and a percussion synth with a rhythm engine), drum kits, a sampler and a full mixer with EQ, compressors, reverb and delay. Everything runs natively in the app.
Yes. Solar Eclipse started as an app for the Orba: connect it over USB or Bluetooth MIDI and its pads, tilt and gestures play and record your tracks. Without an Orba the app works just as well with its own sounds.
Solar Eclipse is an independent project and not made by Artiphon. It gives Orba owners a full DAW to record, arrange and mix what they play, with sounds and effects built in, so the Orba stays useful as a controller.
Yes. Record your voice straight into tracks, loop it, tune it to the key, turn beatbox sounds into drum hits, shape your voice with the vocoder, and play effects live on the Solar pad like a loop station with a Kaoss pad.
No. There is no AI that writes songs or generates sounds for you. Solar Eclipse gives you instruments, pads and effects — the music is yours.
Swarm (a fat workhorse synth with unison and wavetables), Elixir (a wavetable synth with warp modes, 16-voice unison, drawable LFOs and an effect rack), Alabaster (an analog-style synth with four oscillators, FM, ring, sync and an arpeggiator), Maya (a percussion synth with 18 drum models and a rhythm engine) and a set of quick built-in sounds. More are on the way.
Yes. Drag an LFO, envelope, macro or the mod wheel onto any knob and set where it moves from (Min) and to (Max). A ring on the knob shows the range, and a dot shows the live value while you play.
It runs in the browser with nothing to install, and once opened it keeps working offline. You can also add it to your home screen like an app.
Yes: as WAV (16, 24 or 32 bit) or MP3, single tracks as audio, and patterns as MIDI to your other gear. A song also exports as one file with all its sounds, to open on another device or send to a friend.
Create an account (your CiGYL account works too) and use everything for 14 days, no card needed. Buy within those 14 days for €59 instead of €99. After the trial the app asks you to buy; your songs stay on your device.
You keep using Solar Eclipse for life, in the version you have. Each further year of updates and premium support costs €39, once, whenever you want it. There is no subscription.
Connect your Orba 2 to the app during your trial. Solar Eclipse checks that a real Orba answers, and you get 10 % off for good, once per account: €53.10 during the trial, €89.10 afterwards.
Please do. Solar Eclipse is built by one developer who reads every request and gladly builds wished-for features and instruments into the app.
I'm André Graf, a technical artist and pipeline developer from Hamburg — the same person behind CiGYL. I wanted a studio that fits in my pocket, plays like an instrument and doesn't send me shopping for plugins before I can make a sound. Nothing on the market did all of that, so I'm building it.
Solar Eclipse is a solo project. I write it with AI-assisted development, but the app itself has no AI that makes music for you. Tell me what you'd love to play with next — your wishes shape what gets built.
